Neural repair: from mechanisms of direct reprogramming to functional integration
MAGDALENA GÖTZ
I will present largely unpublished data on recent mechanistic insights into the mechanisms of reprogramming glial cells into neurons. These provide not only fascinating insghts into the mechanisms of fate conversion but also allow to convert glia in vivo after brain injury in the mouse cerebral cortex with high efficiency into mature neurons. I will close by presenting data on how well new neurons actually integrate into the pre-existing neural circuitry of the adult murine cerebral cortex.
